An infant's violent death inside a residential property has left a community reeling. Four individuals face capital charges after a newborn baby girl was found fatally stabbed in Sheffield.
South Yorkshire Police locked down a property on Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area following emergency calls concerning an infant's safety on a Sunday morning. First responders pronounced the newborn dead at the scene. A forensic post-mortem examination later confirmed the child died from multiple stab wounds.
The Formal Indictments
Investigators moved quickly. Seven people were initially taken into custody as part of the fast-moving inquiry. Detectives have now formally charged four adults with a series of severe offenses.
The suspects include 19-year-old Peter Horvath, 38-year-old Peter Horvath, and 37-year-old Nina Horvathova—all residing at Holywell Heights—alongside 20-year-old Andrea Skopova, formerly of Robey Street.
Each of these four adults stands accused of three distinct charges:
- Murder
- Causing or allowing the death of a child
- Perverting the course of justice by taking steps to conceal the killing
A fifth suspect, a 15-year-old girl whose identity remains protected due to her age under UK legal restrictions, was also charged with perverting the course of justice. All five defendants were remanded in custody ahead of their appearance at Sheffield Magistrates' Court. Two additional women, aged 26 and 37, remain on police bail while inquiries continue.
